Samum “Sam” Tirigan: Heavy Gunner
Don’t believe everything Sam tells you – he tends to embellish facts to make himself look good. The only thing he never brags about is his skill with his weapons. He doesn’t need to; anyone who’s seen him handle his heavy guns knows that in this area, he truly does excel.
Sam has problems with authority, is never on time, and is honestly rather lazy. Still, for all his faults, he’s great to have at your back in a fight. You’re not going to care if his boots are polished to a regulation shine when he’s keeping swarms of aliens at bay. (For the record: They aren’t. Sam doesn’t believe in boot polish.)
Take a bunch of insubordinate misfits with combat experience, fit them out with military-grade weaponry, and set them loose on the universe. What could possibly go wrong?
Kira Askur: Two-Handed Fighter
The squad’s second-in-command is an expert in two-handed fighting. Kira’s shots are lethal no matter which hand she fires with. She may not talk much, but she doesn’t miss a thing – either literally or figuratively speaking.
Kira knows a suspicious number of tricks about how to sneak through border controls and fly under the radar. That rumor that she used to be a smuggler until customs caught her, though? You’re sure that can’t be true. After all, everyone knows the corporations don’t let smugglers live.
Nothing fazes Iset’s almost supernatural calm. The squad’s sniper never misses a shot. And it’s not just her steady hand and eye that benefit her comrades; Iset has an uncanny knack for getting behind enemy lines, and also possesses a surprisingly varied collection of survival skills.
She doesn’t look it, but Iset is by far the oldest member of the squad. When you have the chance, ask her to tell you what it was like when humans first took to the stars. The millennia she spent in cryogenic stasis aboard a hibernation ship haven’t impaired her memory one bit.
Bryn Fisher: Commando
As an ex-commando in the Talorcan Empire’s Special Forces, Bryn is the only squad member with a proper military background. Maybe that’s why he’s the unit’s commander. Of course, it could also be his superior fighting skills, his responsible attitude, or his natural leadership qualities… or possibly just that nobody else would take the job.
A proud royalist, Bryn left the military after a corporate buy-out had his home planet changing hands. He’s never going to work for one of those corrupt corporations. In fact, they should probably have killed him while they had the chance.
